Kate's Speech

            While time has changed how the public views marriage and everybody want so try pulling the "women's rights" speech we(Christians) are commanded to be in, not of the world. However I don't believe, and neither do I think God does, that women are in any way inferior to men, but men are the ones God commands to be the head of the household. So when Kate made her speech on the duties and places of wives I think that it was a Christian view. On the other hand I wouldn't want to be affiliated with someone, wife or not, that would let me be so ignorant as to think that the moon was the sun... what good is it for Petruchio, or any on for that matter, to have a wife if she can't help you keep from making mistakes and vice versa.

????????Who Tamed Who?????????

            I'm not sure if the last scene of the play can be taken as proof that Kate has been TRULY tamed whether she has or hasn't. Because from the beginning we have seen that she has quite a temper and wishes to spite everyone around her. And what better way to do so than to show that she is not only a better wife than ever could have been imagined but also that she is a better wife than her oh so perfect sister Bianca. I know that probably seems far fetched... And I suppose it is, but I did notice that in my version Kate left as soon as her speech was over rather than waiting for her husband like a tame wife would have. Either way it would seem that Kate and Petruchio have at lest come to an understanding. If these unlikely circumstances are in fact the case, than it is very possible that the last scene is a private joke between Kate and Petruchio. Since both, as shown in the first couple scenes, are very mischievous.

My "on the spot" Opinions Of Characters

Bianca,
Kind of a manipulative version of Hero form Much Ado. Probably wasn't always a brat but once she got used to being the center of attention started to use her good standings with her rich, easily flattered father to her advantage. Resulting in her using her sisters shrewdness to build upon her own pedestal of perfectness.

Obviously a sucker for good looks, He is defiantly a pretty boy. Not the best judge of character since he thought he was getting a good wife when he married Bianca but learns pretty fast how wrong he was.

Petruchio,
Lover of money and of a challenge, he is far smarter than he lets on and isn't lying when he says that he's "rough". Pretty complex guy that I think only Kate( at the end) and his party of friends/servants understand. He's a bit of a control freak but far more moral than he would appear.
